Five simple steps to learn who Jesus is.

  1. 1

    God loves you

The Bible begins and ends with a God who made you and loves you. You do not have to earn his love. It is already there, waiting for you.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life.”
    John 3:16
“He who doesn’t love doesn’t know God, for God is love.”
    1 John 4:8
  2. 2

    Who Jesus is

Christians believe Jesus is God the Son, who became a real man and lived among us. Through him we can know who God is and come close to him.

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
    John 1:1
“The Word became flesh, and lived among us. We saw his glory, such glory as of the one and only Son of the Father, full of grace and truth.”
    John 1:14
“Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.”
    John 14:6
  3. 3

    Why Jesus came

Everyone has done wrong, and that wrong separates us from God. Jesus came to serve, to give his life on the cross for us, and to rise again so we can be forgiven.

“But God commends his own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
    Romans 5:8
“For the Son of Man also came not to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
    Mark 10:45
  4. 4

    Following Jesus

Jesus invites tired and burdened people to come to him. Following him means trusting him, believing he rose from the dead, and learning to live his way each day.

“Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart; and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
    Matthew 11:28-30
“That if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”
    Romans 10:9

    Your next step

Start by reading the Gospel of John, a short book about the life of Jesus. Talk to God in your own words. And come and visit a church, where you will be welcomed.

“Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light for my path.”
    Psalm 119:105

A prayer you can pray

Prayer is simply talking to God. You can use these words or your own.

Lord Jesus, thank you for loving me. I am sorry for the wrong I have done. Thank you for dying on the cross for me and rising again. Please forgive me, come into my life, and help me to follow you every day. Amen.
